This Privacy Policy explains how Pro-Finance International (“Pro-Finance”, “we”, “us”),
together with our technology partner NextTech Innovators, collects, uses, shares and protects
your personal data when you use the Pro-Finance mobile app and website (the “Service”). We process personal data
in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other applicable Nigerian law.
1. What the Service does
Pro-Finance provides salary-backed loans to salaried workers in Nigeria. You create an account with your phone
number, verify your identity and employment, and our loan officers apply for loans on your behalf. Your account and
loans are held on our core banking system.
2. Information we collect
- Contact details: your phone number (used to sign in with a one-time code), an alternative
phone number, which of your numbers is linked to your BVN, and your email address if you give it.
- Identity information: your Bank Verification Number (BVN), date of birth, and the name
returned by BVN verification. Your full BVN is stored only on our servers; the app shows just the last four digits.
- Personal details: residential and home address, state, LGA and city.
- Employment details: employer, ministry, department or agency (MDA), office address and
email, IPPIS or staff number, how you are paid, date of first appointment, retirement date and take-home pay.
- Next of kin: the name, phone number, relationship and address of the person you nominate.
- Documents: photos or PDFs of your work ID, NIN slip and (optionally) payslip.
- Selfie: one photo of your face, used to confirm you are a real, live person and that you
match your BVN record.
- Loan information: applications, the net pay used to assess them, amounts, repayment
schedules, status and repayment history.
- Technical data: basic device, browser and log information needed to keep the Service
secure and working.
What we do not collect. The app does not read your contacts, call logs, SMS
messages, location, or photo gallery. It only uses your camera when you choose to take a selfie or photograph a
document, and only reads a file you pick yourself. We will never contact your family, friends or colleagues about a
loan, other than the next of kin you nominate.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To verify your identity (Know-Your-Customer checks) and prevent fraud, as the law requires of lenders.
- To confirm your employment and assess whether a loan is affordable for you.
- To open your customer record and account, and to set up, disburse, service and collect loans.
- To contact you about your account, applications and repayments, and to answer support requests.
- To meet our legal, regulatory, audit and reporting obligations.
We rely on your consent, on the need to perform our contract with you, on our legal obligations, and on our
legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where needed to provide the Service:
- Our core banking system, where your customer record, account and loans are held.
- Identity verification and credit bureau partners, to verify your BVN and check your selfie
against your BVN photo.
- Our partner bank / wallet provider, to open the account your loan is paid into.
- Cloud hosting and database providers that run the Service for us.
- An automated document-checking service, which reads uploaded documents to confirm they are
the right type and are readable.
- Your employer or payroll office, where needed to set up salary-deducted repayments.
- Regulators, law enforcement and courts, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are
in place as the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires.
5. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted to authorised staff, and your full identity numbers are held
only on our servers, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data against
unauthorised access, loss or misuse, and we will notify you and the authorities of a serious breach as the law
requires.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. After it closes, or after you ask us to delete it, we delete what
we no longer need. Records we must keep by law, such as identity checks and loan and repayment records, are kept
for the period Nigerian law requires (usually at least five years after the relationship ends) and then deleted.
7. Your rights
- See the personal data we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date. Most details can be edited in the app under
Profile.
- Withdraw consent, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.
- Ask us to delete your account and data. See
Account & Data Deletion.
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
8. Children
The Service is only for adults in employment. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for important changes, tell you in
the app.
